Wrapping FFmpeg in a Local LLM: Say Hello to VibeTranscode 🤖

This is one of my favorite little AI-powered apps that perfectly slots into the very end of my current editing workflows.
Designed for absolutely anyone to be able to get the maximum from it, while giving the ability to deliver professional-grade video transcoding. It’s called VibeTranscode (the Antigravity agent gave it the name and I guess I did stick with it) and it simply allows anyone in the team and department to utilize the power of FFmpeg for their video delivery file needs.
What’s the special thing about it? It’s the free-to-use, locally based LLM model that you can chat to as your assistant to help give you the best possible settings for your video file.
Just let it know basic specs such as resolution, frame rates, etc., and your intended delivery location (YouTube, Instagram, etc.), and it’ll pick the best FFmpeg settings based on those details. Then, all you need to do is click transcode! Small file size (around 50% smaller than exporting from Premiere), high-quality video files every time for everyone.
There are also options to pick ready-made export templates or manually choose your export settings as well if you wanted.
This is one of the reasons why I love vibe-coding application solutions, taking a powerful tool like FFmpeg and pairing it with a local assistant to completely smooth out the end of the post-production pipeline. Along with lowering the technical boundaries for anyone to maximize their projects and workflows.
